Swimmer, paramedic meet for first time after near-fatal accident

Tom Hallman Jr. of The Oregonian writes a cool story about a reunion of two people.

Back in August, Tigard eighth-grade student Erick Durano was swimming in the Clackamas River in Gladstone when his leg cramped up and he couldn't swim anymore. Eventually, he went under water and blacked out. After a little while, Durano had no pulse.

That's when Thomas Koehler literally dove into action. Koehler, a paramedic for American Medical Response, was there that day and ended up saving his life.

The paths of the two crossed again this past Sunday when the two officially met for the first time.
